So, um, imagine this: it's the middle of winter, freezing cold outside, and you notice one of your storm windows has a pretty noticeable crack. Not shattered or anything dramatic, but definitely enough to let in a draft. You know, the kind of crack that makes you wonder if it'll hold up through the next snowstorm or if you'll wake up to a mini snowdrift on your windowsill.
Would you try to patch it temporarily with tape or plastic wrap or something? Or maybe just bite the bullet and replace the whole pane right away, even though it's freezing out and you'd rather not mess around with glass and tools in subzero temps. I mean, I've heard some people say they just leave it until spring, but that seems kinda risky to meβespecially if the weather gets worse.
Curious what others would do in this situation, especially if you're not exactly a DIY expert (like me, haha).

Honestly, I'd go for a temporary fix firstβclear packing tape or even bubble wrap can work surprisingly well in a pinch. Last winter, I had a similar issue and used bubble wrap (bonus: extra insulation!). It held up fine until spring when I could comfortably replace the pane without freezing my fingers off. Plus, it's eco-friendly to reuse materials you already have around the house.
